ποΈ Royal Lancers Freedom of Richmond Parade – This Saturday - 6th June 2026
The Royal Lancers, having recently been granted the Freedom of Richmond Town, will exercise this honour with a ceremonial parade through Richmond this Saturday.
The parade will form up at Nuns Close Car Park before marching through the streets of Richmond at 1pm, passing through the Market Square and concluding at Richmond Castle.
This historic occasion is a chance for residents and visitors alike to show their support for the Regiment and celebrate the long-standing relationship between Richmond, Catterick Garrison and our Armed Forces.
The Freedom of the Town is one of the highest civic honours that can be bestowed upon a military unit, granting them the privilege to march through the town with drums beating, colours flying and bayonets fixed.
π Route: Nuns Close Car Park → Victoria Road → Kings Street → Market Place → Richmond Castle
We encourage everyone to come along, line the route and be part of this special day in Richmond's history.
Please allow extra time for your journeys as temporary road closures and traffic restrictions will be in place while the parade passes through the town.
We look forward to welcoming The Royal Lancers and marking this proud occasion together.
π The parade will commence at 1:00pm.
β οΈ Please note that temporary road closures and traffic restrictions will be in place along the parade route. Residents and visitors are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and allow extra time for travel throughout the town during the event.
